Fire extinguishers are required on boats with enclosed compartments where fuel or vapors can accumulate, permanent fuel tanks, closed living spaces, or inboard engines.

Marine fire extinguishers are rated 'B' for burning liquids (fuel, oil, grease). Never use water on fuel fires.
