Carbon monoxide danger zones on a boat

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an invisible, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be deadly. It is produced by any fuel-burning engine, including boat engines, generators, and cooking stoves. CO poisoning is a leading cause of death in boating accidents.

CO can accumulate in enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces on boats, such as cabins, under canvas covers, or near swim platforms when the engine is running. Even well-ventilated areas can have dangerous CO levels under certain conditions.
